JA logo

We have popular sites such as Yahoo Answers and Answerbag.com while also have niche-based Q &A sites. Although I did stumble across some sites that have accredited professionals answering your queries, I am yet to see a great looking site powered by accredited professionals and raved by the Media all at the same time. Justanswer.com is just the kind of site that would make you feel like being there and asking away or contribute if you are an expert. (more…)

What do you get when you put together a newspaper, portal, Q &A site, recruitment site, an e-store, and much more (there are really too many to list)? The result is Mahalo.com. Instead of taking the usual approach of putting up a Q &A site, Mahalo.com took an integrated approach by making itself look like a Q &A supersite with some other things thrown in. Mahalo Answers, then, is the actual site that focuses on Q &A. (more…)

Most of the Q &A sites we know of are peer-based, general online communities where everyone tends to pitch in with answers when you ask a question. Allexperts.com is one such community but has its focus spread evenly across a wide range of topics. (more…)

Facebook launches Facebook Questions…but not for us!

fb

Imagine my excitement when on Wednesday morning my inbox was filled with Google alerts telling me Facebook had finally launched its Facebook Questions application! (Yes I do need to get out more).

Then imagine my disappointment when scouring my own Facebook home page and profile I find no mention of Questions anywhere…if only there was some way of asking 500 million people how I can make my life more exciting! (more…)

Don’t They Have Work To Do?

It seems our beloved question and answer sites aren’t just for us ordinary Joe’s.

Recently former Apple employees Chad Little and Justin Maxwell published posts on Q & A site Quora detailing information on what it was like working for Apple. Chad Little, who now works for Facebook, and Justin Maxwell (Mint.com) replied to a post asking ‘What is the internal culture of Apple like?’ giving away company information such as the benefits package – pretty lacking apparently; security policies – which even limits what you can say to your other half; worker mentality – employees work on an almost religious level of commitment; and the corporate culture – if you’re not working on a project for Steve Jobs don’t expect anything to happen fast . I want a free trip to California!

Facebook

One of last week’s blogs was all about Facebook and their new ‘killer app’, Facebook Questions. A select few had been enrolled to Beta test the application and one of the testers in New Zealand had been tracked down and had given a short overview of his experience so far. This week it seems the tester role has been opened up to all and sundry. (more…)
